We’d all booked the Friday off work, so set off pretty early and despite getting stuck in many traffic jams, we arrived safe and sound at the Rosecliston Campsite. The site accepts large groups, therefore it was perfect for us and the people there are friendly and welcoming. Once pitched up, BBQ food was eaten, lots of drinks were consumed and we ended up playing Cards Against Humanity; a card game that is certainly not for the light-hearted, but hilarious all the same!
After a good night’s sleep and breakfast, we headed in to Newquay town to do some shopping. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and only had one dull hour during our quick stop on Tolcarne Beach; the rest of the weekend was full of sunshine and blue skies, it was lovely! In the evening, everyone scrubbed up for a meal at Frankie and Benny’s, followed by drinks in town. The food, albeit very stuffing, was delicious and the cocktails weren’t bad either!
On the Sunday, we spent a full day on Towan Beach in the sunshine; it was bliss. Some of the group went for a swim in the freezing cold water – well done you lot! – whilst the rest of us sun bathed on the beach. A few of us even had some cold ciders and beers, it was glorious! After a yummy fish ‘n’ chips, we went back to the campsite for more entertaining games of Cards Against Humanity before bed.
We packed up on Monday morning before making our way to St Eval Kart Circuit; though Dave and I got thoroughly lost, it was a nightmare! After eventually finding our way, most of the crew went around the track and had loads of fun whilst the remaining few simply enjoyed the gorgeous weather and taking photographs of our friends karting. We then nipped back in to Newquay for a cream tea at The Chy Bar and Kitchen, followed by the tastiest strawberry milkshake from Kook – best place ever for milkshakes, FYI – before setting off on our journey home. On our route back to Gloucestershire, we stumbled upon Colliford Lake which, being the car enthusiasts we are, was the perfect place for a mini-photoshoot!
I had the best weekend and am so pleased and honoured to have such wonderful friends that I can share brilliant times with; thanks guys and gals!
