Exploring Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire
My two friends & I have been bitten by the local adventure bug after visiting Cotswold Villages & Cotswold Wildlife Park recently. A couple of weekend’s ago, this bug took us to the beautiful town of Stratford-Upon-Avon in Warwickshire.
Stratford is rich with history, which includes being the birthplace of William Shakespeare. It was amazing to think that we were walking the same paths he would have done.
Old Tudor houses & buildings surrounded us, showing even more evidence of historical times.
River Avon runs through the town – hence the name! It’s a lovely place to go for a quiet wander. We took in the scenes of rowers, boats bobbing against the shoreline as ripples from passing canal boats hit them, couples enjoying some quiet time whilst walking hand-in-hand under the trees. It was like something out of a movie!
We then stumbled across Hall’s Croft, which was the home of Shakespeare’s daughter. It looked incredible, with it’s old structure & beautiful flowers in the front garden.
To break up the day, we went to Hoorays British Gelato Kitchen in order to have our traditional ‘Cake Date‘ .
How had I not heard of this delightful place before?!
Hoorays is an ice-cream parlour that is sure to set the tummy rumbling. Sundaes, milkshakes, cocktails, waffles & other treats are all on the menu. I decided to go all out with a Chocaholic Waffle, which was so incredible that I think I died & went to heaven!
In an effort to be slightly healthy, I also had a Strawberry & Banana Smoothie. This was also heaven!
After eating, we rolled out of the café feeling very full & strolled through the streets to work off some of the food!
Stratford has everything, even a Christmas shop!
Once back at the river, we settled down on the grass & watched the world go by.
We learnt a lot during our day trip & got to see a different side to the town. I must say, this local adventure thing is thoroughly enjoyable!
