60th Birthday Glamping Trip near Bideford, Devon
Dave’s uncle turned 60 in June & to celebrate, his wife & daughters rallied some family & friends together to spend a weekend glamping in Devon. All of this a surprise for Malcolm, of course!
So even though this post is rather late, here’s what we got up to!
Day 1.
We arrived to the Loveland Site on the Friday afternoon to find futuristic looking globes, which were in fact our glamping pods!
Dave & I shared the Welcombe Pod with his two brothers, Andy & Steve. It was fantastic! The pod contained a comfortable double bed & two sofa beds, a cosy wood burner, dining table & bathroom just outside.
It felt so surreal & unique, we’d definitely recommend it. Although the eco-toilets were rather interesting!! After dropping off our stuff & settling in, we met up with the other weekend guests. Everyone had a slightly different accommodation, so we took the opportunity to check out theirs too!
Lots of introductions & catching up then ensued; not long before the drinks started to flow! For food on our first night, we opted to try the Loveland Farm’s own pizza which was made on site. It was delicious!
We spent the rest of the evening talking, singing karaoke songs & laughing constantly, before heading to our pods for bed.
Day 2.
Our second day was spent mostly recovering from the night before & relaxing on site. In the evening, however, we all got dressed up & drove over to the Hartland Quay Pub for a meal.
The views from the pub of the surrounding cliffs & open sea were fantastic.
The food was rather delicious too!
Day 3.
Dave & I woke early on the Sunday feeling refreshed after an early night. With most people still asleep, we went for a lovely walk in the sunshine to the nearest town.
The country roads were empty at the time, except for this little family on Stoats!
We got back to the site shortly before midday & headed for the main pod to join the group. Not long after, we cracked open our first drinks & started playing games & chatting more.
Some of us then headed off to play some rounders before food & it was hilarious, they were all so competitive! After rounders, the group started on Stick-in-the-Mud & had just as much fun.
The weekend was so much fun & it was great to meet more of Dave’s family! I think Malcolm enjoyed his surprise too!
