A Morning at Newport Beach
My favourite place in the entire world is Newport Beach in Pembrokeshire. It is a truly special place and was, therefore, where we spent our Sunday morning whilst on our last trip to the caravan.
My boyfriend and I started the morning with the ‘usual’. This consisted of a walk starting at one end of the beach and ending at the estuary.
With our departure the next day looming, I was feeling a tad emotional about leaving the caravan. Therefore, I focused on as many memories as possible, including those from Newport Beach. We paddled in the waves and followed the shoreline to where the coastal estuary meets the sea. The water started off feeling rather chilly, but it didn’t take us long to acclimatise.
After we’d explored all of Newport Beach, I did something that I can’t remember ever doing. I left Dave to chill on the beach and went for a walk along the coastal path that loomed on the cliffs above.
The views of Newport Beach and the surrounding coastline from the top of the cliff were amazing! It was as if I was seeing my favourite place in a whole new light and that was a special moment for me.
I made my way along the path, picking my way down slopes and stomped back up the next incline. It was pretty tough going, especially one very steep section. But the views were totally worth it and I felt good to have gotten a little 2 mile walk under my belt.
Lunch was found at The Castle Inn at Newport, where Dave and I feasted on two tasty burgers. We had cut each burger in half and shared them, so it was a doubly delicious lunch!
Newport Beach was lush and I know we will definitely return to the area and beach in future. Even so, it was a very poignant trip, especially as it tied in to our last holiday at the caravan.
